New Orleans Jesters and Tallahassee SC Battle to 2-2 Draw

New Orleans, LA. – An explosive first half saw the New Orleans Jesters play to a 2-2 draw with Tallahassee SC Saturday night at Pan American Stadium.

Sheldon Green opened the scoring early, picking up an errant pass in the final third and slotting the ball into an open net in the 6th minute.

Stafford Dowling connected with Kevyn Lo’s cross from the left flank to bring Tallahassee level in the 12th minute. Dowling’s header took a deflection off a Jesters’ defender and found the back of the net to bring the sides level.

The early scoring continued as Green notched his second goal of the match from the penalty spot in the 18th minute after being brought down inside the penalty area.

Tallahassee pulled themselves level again in the 30th minute. Alejandro Padilla rose to meet Gaku Nishimura’s inswinging corner, nodding the ball past Alex Hare at the near post.

On the stroke of halftime, Green ran onto a loose ball in the box and was brought down by Tallahassee goalkeeper Marc Kouadio to earn his second penalty of the match. He struck the ball across his body on the ensuing kick from the spot, but Kouadio was equal to it and palmed it away to keep the score level at two heading into the break.

The scoring fireworks faded in the second half. The best chance for either side came from a Tallahassee set piece in the 85th minute. Lo hit a wellstruck shot on frame from a tight angle, forcing Hare to make a fingertip save to preserve a point at home.

With the draw the Jesters remain in third place in the Gulf Coast Conference. The Jesters are back home next Saturday night, June 24 vs Southern States SC ($10, nolajesters.com.
