New Orleans Jesters loses to Jacksonville Armada

Jacksonville, FL.  The New Orleans Jesters lost 2-1 to the Jacksonville Armada Wednesday night at Jangro Stadium.  After conceding two early goals the Jesters fought back in the second half through Maxi Galizzi’s 11th goal of the season but despite creating several good chances New Orleans could not find the crucial second goal.

Jacksonville opened the scoring in the 7th minute with a strike from Cao Chaves from just outside the box. The Armada doubled their lead three minutes later after a two versus one breakaway saw Chaves slip the ball across to Keegan Ancelin who finished from close range.

The Jesters pulled a goal back in the 56th minute with Maxi Gallizzi slotting home after a superb through ball from his brother Lucho Gallizzi.

Maxi Galizzi had a chance to tie it up in the 76th minute after Nate Aupied was brought down in the box and New Orleans were awarded a penalty kick.  Galizzi shaped his shot to the right but the Armada goalkeeper got across and made a diving save.

It was all New Orleans for the remainder of the match and both Galizzi brothers had opportunities to tie the game but in the end the comeback fell just short.

The Jesters face Pensacola FC on Saturday evening in Pensacola, FL before returning home on July 9 for the regular season final versus Florida Roots SC.
