Ederson Lopes, Rafael Maccauro and Reece Wilson each scored goals as the Jesters won their PDL Southeast Division contest, 3-0 over the Academics before 125 fans at the IMG Soccer Academy at Bradenton. New Orleans scored twice in the first half and put the game away with another goal in the second half. Juan Rodriguez and Benny Hanaphy recorded assists for the Jesters. Wilson scored first, assisted by Rodriguez at the 20-minute mark to make it 1-0. Lopes made it 2-0 at the 30-minute mark with an assist by Hanaphy. Maccauro put the game away at the 75-minute mark with the final goal of the contest. Juan Robles pitched the shutout, recording three saves in goal for the Jesters. Bradenton had six shots on goal to five for New Orleans. The Jesters were plagued by offsides calls, incurring seven for the game while Bradenton was not assessed with any offsides infractions. With the win, the Jesters improved to 3-2 on the season and 2-2 in PDL play and added three points to move to six points on the season, moving New Orleans ahead of Bradenton and Nashville into fifth place in the Southeast Division. With the loss, Bradenton dropped to 1-3-1 in the Southeast Division with four points, tied for sixth. New Orleans defeated Bradenton 5-0 on May 15 at Pan American Stadium. The Jesters return to action Saturday at 5 p.m. against winless Fort Lauderdale (0-6) Schultz Academy at Central Broward Regional Park at Fort Lauderdale. |
