Jesters Dominate Metros

NEW ORLEANS, LA – (June 24, 2010) –The New Orleans Jesters returned home to Pan American Stadium to face the Nashville Metros after a tough road game in Baton Rouge. The Jesters went into tonight’s game looking to climb back to the top of the standings in the Southeastern Division of the Premier Development League. The Jesters looked dominant throughout the whole match in front of a large crowd of screaming fans.  With the 4-1 victory, the Jesters look continue their success against the Mississippi Brilla next Saturday.

“After the loss in Baton Rouge, we knew we had to come together tonight,” said Kenny Farrell, Jesters Head Coach. “We came in confident and ready to climb back up the standings.”

In the beginning of the first half, both teams needed some time to feel each other out.  After forward Richard Isberner narrowly missed a shot, mid-fielder Oliver Hewitt-Fisher scored off of an assist from Jesters captain, Carl Reynolds. The Jesters wasted no time building upon their lead, and in the 45th minute midfielder Roberto Lopez scored off of a great pass from defender Grant Guthrie to take a 2-0 lead into the second half.

“We knew we had to come out and be aggressive,” said Fisher. “I’m glad we gave the fans some great entertainment and plan to keep winning.”

The Jesters began to pull away in the 47th minute when Carl Reynolds drilled a bending shot into the goal.  Later in the match, Oliver Hewitt-Fisher scored his second goal of the night off of a Nashville deflection inside the box.   The Metros finally scored in the 84th minute when mid-fielder Billy Otieno put it past goalkeeper Andre Boudreaux.

“It’s a great win for us at home,” said Farrell.  “We’ve finished all of our road games, so it’s great to be back at home in front of our fans for the remainder of the season.”

Throughout the whole game, Jesters fans cheered their team to victory. Once the final whistle blew, they poured onto the field to greet players and get autographs.
