Jesters come from behind to defeat Tallahassee SC 2-1
The New Orleans Jesters came from behind to beat Tallahassee SC 2-1 Saturday night at Gene Cox Stadium. After conceding an early goal the Jesters fought back to take all three points with a dramatic 90th minute winner from midfielder Rafael Calderon.
Tallahassee opened the scoring in the 12th minute converting on a counter attack through Sy Fontenot who chipped the ball over goalkeeper Lamoy Graham.
The Jesters equalized ten minutes later with a well worked set-piece. The ball was played short from a corner to defender James Raptis who whipped in a cross from the left side. Forward Maxi Galizzi met the cross and powered a headed finish into the far corner.
New Orleans came close to taking the lead in the 77th minute with Maxi Galizzi drilling the ball into a defender after the goalkeeper was caught out of position. Seconds later his brother Lucho Galizi drilled an attempt on target but Tallahassee’s goalkeeper managed to turn it around the post.
With time running out the Jesters found a late winner through substitute Rafael Calderon who headed home from a corner in the 90th minute to record his first goal for the New Orleans Jesters.
The Jesters return home to Pan American Stadium on June 15th to take on Pensacola FC ($10, nolajesters.com).
