Jesters fight back to tie Mobile

The New Orleans Jesters tied AFC Mobile 2-2 tonight at Archbishop Lipscomb Stadium. The Jesters came from behind twice to earn a share of the points and are now unbeaten in their last three games.

AFC Mobile opened the scoring in the 43rd minute after the Jesters fouled just outside the box.   From the ensuing free-kick Ronaldo Fortune curled a shot around the wall  to make it 1-0.

New Orleans started the second half brightly and were level within five minutes after forward Maxi Galizzi slotted home at the near post after a low cross from the left side.

AFC Mobile retook the lead in the 71st minute after midfielder Chris Salamatou saw his shot from distance bounce into the far corner past a diving Lamoy Graham.

The Jesters almost leveled immediately but Gallizi’s point-blank header was saved superbly by the Mobile goalkeeper.

New Orleans kept the pressure up and were rewarded for their efforts in the 79th minute with a superb goal from midfielder Floris van Nijnanten. After picking the ball up 30 yards out van Nijnanten hit a dipping shot over the goalkeeper to make it 2-2.

AFC Mobile had a great chance to win the game in stoppage time but Fortune was denied by Graham who saved brilliantly to deny Fortune his second goal.

The Jesters return home for a pair of games this week at Pan American Stadium.  Wednesday night the Jesters take on Pensacola FC and then Saturday night New Orleans faces Tallahassee SC ( $10, nolajesters.com).
