Amin Zahhar scores in stoppage time to rescue point for Jesters
Gulfport, MS. Amin Zahhar marked his NPSL and Jesters debut with a superb stoppage time goal to rescue a point for the New Orleans Jesters on Wednesday night versus Port City FC.
With time running out and with the Jesters trailing 3-2 Zahhar received the ball at the edge of the box. He dribbled past the first defender, slipped a tackle then drilled a shot inside the far post to make it 3-3.
Port City took the lead from the penalty-spot in the 7th minute before New Orleans midfielder Jackson Hulme scored a penalty in the 19th minute to tie it up at 1-1.
After conceding from a corner in the 30th minute the Jesters leveled again through forward Sheldon Green who headed home from ten yards out just before half time.
It looked like Port City would take all three points after converting a counter-attack in the 86th minute to take the lead for a third time in the match. However Zahhar’s late heroics saved the day as the teams shared the spoils.
The New Orleans Jesters return home to Pan American Stadium on Saturday night for a 7 PM match versus Southern States SC.
