Jester Kick Off 2023 Home NPSL Schedule Saturday Night at Pan American

New Orleans, LA. The New Orleans Jesters kick off their home NPSL schedule on Saturday night at Pan American Stadium versus Florida Roots FC.  Gates open at 5:30 PM with kick off set for 7:00 PM ($10 – www.nolajesters.com).

Last Friday the New Orleans Jesters traveled to Hattiesburg, MS, to take on Southern States SC in their first NPSL match of the season. The game finished 3-1 in favor of SSSC, with the lone Jesters goal scored by forward Shelton Green. Despite the loss, team captain Ricardo Gomez believes that his squad showed plenty of good things in the game.

“I think we learned a lot from ourselves this past weekend. I think fitness played a key role, for the first thirty to forty minutes, we stuck together as a unit. But as the game carried on, fitness level and sharpness played into the result.”

With sights set on Saturday’s contest, the Jesters look to carry the momentum from the last game into the match against Florida Roots. The team had great success against Florida Roots last year with two regular season victories, including a 2-0 shut-out and a 4-1 win, respectively.

Florida Roots has yet to acquire a win in league play with a 2-1 loss to Tallahassee SC, followed by a 7-2 loss to Jacksonville Armada the next week. 

The match will be the first home game of the season for the Jesters this Saturday, May 20, at Pan American Stadium in City Park, with gates opening at 5:30 and kick-off set for 7:00 PM.

The night will be packed with family-fun activities, such as pony petting by Pony Tales and team-colored face painting. It will also be an Academy NIght for all Jesters Academy families to attend and take pictures with our players as we show thanks for their continued support! 

Gomez had this to say about the excitement about this upcoming game.

“Jesters’ games are fun, a lot of people will be out there because it is Academy Night, we will try our utmost to give the fans the winning result they want and hang out with the Academy kids afterward!”

At half time of Saturday’s match there will be a special presentation to honor longtime Jesters striker and current assistant coach Tony Judice who retired at the end of the 2022 season.
