Toras’ close ties with CBU paying dividends for Jesters
New Orleans, LA. The New Orleans Jesters close links with Christian Brothers University continues ahead of the 2022 NPSL season with six members of the roster connected to the Memphis NCAA D2 college.
Veteran midfielder Adamandios Toras is the key component to the partnership; Toras played for CBU from 2009 – 2013, captaining the side for two years and has maintained a close relationship with the powerhouse soccer program.
“I had a great experience playing at CBU as a young man, Memphis was very welcoming to me and I was fortunate to make some close friends and forge some strong bonds. I’m always looking to help the program out where I can and giving college players the opportunity to play with the Jesters here in New Orleans is something very special.”
Toras grew up in Metairie and attended Archbishop Rummel High School and is one of the longest serving players for the Jesters having played for the team from 2009 – 2018 and 2021.
This year he helped bring back forward Luciano Galizzi who played for the Jesters in 2021 helping the side progress to the Gulf Coast Championship game. Galizzi will be joined by his older brother Maxi for the 2022 campaign. Maxi played for the University of Memphis in 2021 after three standout seasons at CBU.
Midfielder and Mandeville native Ben Schwing arrives at the Jesters after spending the past two college seasons with CBU, and rookie defender and fellow Mandeville native Nate Aupied also comes for a first Jesters season after his Freshman year at Christian Brothers.
Rounding out the squad’s CBU connection is forward James Raptis. A London, England native Raptis played for Christian Brothers for two years before transferring to the University of Charleston.
The New Orleans Jesters will kick off their 2022 NPSL campaign on Saturday May 7 vs AFC Mobile. The game is at Pan American Stadium, City Park; gates open at 6:00 PM with kick off set for 7:00 PM ($10, www.nolajesters.com).
