Jesters Get Home Win Against Georgia Revolution
New Orleans, LA – June 2, 2018
The New Orleans Jesters got second half goals by Mason Walsh and Tom Peers as they beat the Georgia Revolution at Pan American Stadium Saturday night 3-1.
The Jesters got on the board in the 27th minute on a spectacular goal by Hashim Kasimu. It was Kasimu’s third goal of the season and put the team up 1-0. Kashimu said of his goal, “I received the ball and took on the defender. I hit it first time trying to find the far corner and I found it. It was a good goal for me”
Georgia would answer with a 44th minute goal by Isaac Promise and the match was level at half. Coach Kenny Farrell said of the mood at halftime, “They were quiet, but then you set the tone with them and you say “We aren’t playing as well as we can”. And so at 1-1 I said “Don’t worry about it”, and we changed the formation a little bit.”
Walsh answered almost immediately after the team came out of the locker room when a ball ended up on his feet in the 47th minute and he put it away for the eventual game winner. Walsh said of his game winner, “I just sort of latched onto a second ball just inside the box and snuck it away.” He added with a smile, “They all count don’t they?”
Peers added the insurance goal late in the match. It was his 6th of the season and came off of a terrific give and go with Oliver Roberts. But Peers was modest after the match saying, “One-two’s were around the corner all day and he gets on the ball well and so he put me in and set me up well and I put into the back of the net. I’m happy and he’s happy I think. Keep setting me up goals”
The Jesters are now 3-1-1 and go back on the road next week with matches at Emerald Force SC Wednesday and a return match with Georgia on Friday.
