Jesters Fall to Atalanta

Tonights game story…
Jesters Fall at Home To Atlanta 2-1

New Orleans, LA, June 13, 2018

The New Orleans Jesters lost to Southeast Conference rival Atlanta Silverbacks 2-1 Wednesday night at Pan American Stadium.

The Jesters took the lead in the 44th minute on a sneaky left foot shot by Oliver Roberts that beat the Atlanta keeper Theo Blachon to make it 1-0.

New Orleans looked like they would head to the locker room with that lead. But Atlanta got a late corner after a point blank save by New Orleans goal keeper Chad Collins. That corner led to a foul called on Curtis Thorn near the top of the box. That resulted in a free kick attempt by Joao Johanning Mora from 24 yards out that he put into the net in stoppage time.

The second half started with another disaster for New Orleans. A miscommunication between Chad Collins and Adeoye Olumuyiwa led to the ball ending up on the foot of Thierry Jules who put the ball into the open goal for the game winner.

The Silverbacks handed the Jesters their third loss of the season(4-3-1 overall), despite what Coach Kenny Farrell believed was one of his team’s better efforts. “That’s our best performance all season. That’s the best soccer performance that I have seen by any team in our league this season. And to come away with a loss is very hard to suck up. It’s just hard to understand. We need a little more maturity. We literally gifted them 2 goals and that’s unacceptable. I told the players that. It’s got to stop. It’s just a shame really.”

The Jesters return home Saturday night against Chattanooga FC. Kickoff is at 7pm at Pan American Stadium.
