Jesters fall to Tallahassee
Tallahassee FL. The New Orleans Jesters lost 3-2 to Tallahassee SC tonight at Gene Cox Stadium. In an open game that saw five goals scored New Orleans held a 2-1 lead with less than ten minutes to play but Tallahassee scored twice late in the match to earn all three points.
Tallahassee opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a goal from GT Jeffson who slotted home after slipping in behind the last defender after the ball was played over the top.
Juan Pablo Gonzalez forced a save in the 38th minute after cutting inside the defender but saw his left footed strike palmed wide for a corner.
The Jesters equalized just in the 41st minute with Gomnzalez involved again but this time sending a sharp cross towards the penalty spot, The ball deflected through and striker Russell Brown ran onto the loose ball and smashed it home to make it 1-1.
Tallahassee had a chance to retake the lead just before the break but Robert Willcott sliced his penalty attempt wide of the goal.
New Orleans came close to taking the lead in the 71st minute from a corner kick but Victor Mayrink’s angled headed flew just wide.
The Jesters finally broke through for a second goal in the 75th minute with Sheldon Green flicking the ball across the face of goal to Gonzalez who tucked the ball home from inside the six yard box.
Tallahassee fought back and scored two quick goals to retake the lead in the 80th and 82nd minutes, dashing the Jesters hopes of an away victory.
The Jesters are on the road again next weekend with a Saturday night fixture versus Columbus United.
