Jesters lose to Southern States
Hattiesburg,MS. The New Orleans Jesters lost 2-1 to Southern States SC on Saturday night at The Oaks Training Center. Mason Walsh gave New Orleans the lead on the 20 minute mark but Southern States responded with a goal in each half to hand the Jesters their first loss of the season.
Head coach Kenny Farrell was pleased with the performance despite the result,
“The team gave everything tonight and I’m proud of them they fought to the very end over the equalizer, We created chances throughout and on the balance perhaps deserved a little more. We will take a lot of positives from the match.
I’m looking forward to a good week of training and as a group will start focusing on next weekend.”
The Jesters opened the scoring with a quick break down the left side and an incisive pass from forward Lucho Galizza. Walsh took the ball in stride and slotted into the far corner from just inside the box.
New Orleans could only hold the lead for ten minutes with Southern States leveling though forward Bennet Gibson.
Both teams had chances to pull ahead but it was Southern States who broke the deadlock scoring the decisive goal in the 65th minute. Defender Danny Reynolds whipped a corner into the box and Andre Deas reacted first to the loose ball with a close-range finish.
The Jesters return home to Pan American Stadium next Saturday night for a match versus Port City FC; gates open at 6 PM with kick off set for 7 PM (MyCujoo.TV).
