Jesters Stage Comeback in Georgia To Secure Three Points

McDonough, GA, June 8, 2018

The New Orleans Jesters rallied from an early deficit to beat the Georgia Revolution 2-1 Friday night.

Georgia grabbed the early lead in the 6th minute on a goal by Isaac Promise. But the Jesters answered just 7 minutes later on a gorgeous volley by Hisham Kasimu. “Tom flicked it and it came back and I just hit it first time volley.  Hit it bottom corner.  I’m just glad it went in and got the equalizer and got the team back on track.

A critical moment in the match occurred in the 59th minute when Jesters keeper Chad Collins mishandled a ball in the box, and Lucas La Vanway committed a penalty.  But Collins atoned for his mistake by diving to his left and saving the ensuing penalty kick. “I don’t know what happened.  I misjudged it or what, but I just got up and I was always confidant I was going to stop the penalty.  It’s something I like doing.”

In the 72nd minute, Tom Peers earned a penalty kick for the Jesters when he was taken down in the box.  He buried the subsequent penalty kick in the lower left corner for the game winner.  Peers on the penalty and ensuing PK, “I took a turn back and he came from behind and took me down.  Stepped up to the penalty.  I like taking penalties and it went in.  And we won the game and another goal for me.”  The goal was Peers’ 7th of the year.

With the win, the Jesters salvage 3 points on the 2 match road trip. Coach Kenny Farrell was proud of his team’s gutsy effort.  “It’s just a great win all-around.  The win was more important than the performance.  But the guts and the grit was there.  They took the chances they were given.  Yeah, we are very happy to take three points home, just disappointed we didn’t have a six point weekend.”

The Jesters (4-2-1) return to Pan American Stadium Wednesday against the Atlanta Silverbacks at 7pm.
